R&B Stars Akon and Ryan Leslie Perform to a Full House at the Showcase
CHICAGO, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Twenty aspiring models from across Chicagoland put their haute foot forward during the Remix the Runway 2008 showcase, held at the historic Du Sable Museum last Friday night. Sponsored by WPWX FM Power 92 and Luster Products, the Chicago-based manufacturer of premium hair care products for people of African descent worldwide, the high-energy show drew an audience of several hundred people who helped select 10 contestants -- five men and five women -- who possessed the right mix of eye-catching good looks and panache.
Of the 10 people chosen from Friday's event, two finalists -- one male and one female -- will be picked by online voters as being the winners. Their names will be announced on WPWX FM Power 92 on the morning of Monday, December 8, marking the culmination of Remix the Runway 2008.
"Luster Products, Luster's(R) Pink(R) and Luster's(R) SCurl(R), two brands from our family of products that help consumers create head-turning hair in a variety of styles every day, were a perfect fit to sponsor Remix the Runway 2008," said Brenda Turner, director of marketing, Luster Products. "Luster Products was excited to give hundreds of men, women and children to realize one of their dreams to become a model featured on a kit carton and in print, radio and television campaigns."
Luster's(R) Pink(R) Oil Moisturizer Hair Lotion was re-launched in 2008, with repackaging, product enhancements, new formulas, a new :30 spot, "Neighborhood Runway," sponsorship of TV One's "Living Single," as well as a new print campaign that will give winners of Remix the Runway 2008 national exposure. In 2009, Luster's(R) Pink(R) will introduce new products and a new national print campaign featuring winners from Remix the Runway 2008.
Luster's(R) SCurl(R), a line of products that help African American men achieve a variety of today's most popular hairstyles in just minutes, will be contemporized in 2009, including the re-launch of existing products from the line and a new national print campaign.
R&B singers Akon and Ryan Leslie, and Chicago spoken word poet J Ivy performed during the event's intermission.
