Red Love Film Focuses on Film Festivals and Securing Distribution

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- A private audience at the Cincinnati Art Museum's Fath Theater watched a sneak preview of the latest feature by Red Love Film (http://www.redlovefilm.com/) -- JOY (http://www.joythefilm.com/). The "sneak peak" screening was pure JOY for a crowd of nearly 700. The film is the story of three sisters who take a magical journey to a surreal grocery store -- the real life Jungle Jim's International Market -- on the anniversary of their father's death. While searching for menu items they find the meaning of their own lives with the help of some whimsical guides.

The movie is the first of several planned films by screenwriter/actress Julie Marie Hassett. However, the road to this first film has been one of loss, and perseverance. JOY was inspired by the untimely passing of Hassett's father. She was writing the screenplay and establishing Red Love Film with her two sisters when her family suffered another tragedy, the unexpected death of her youngest sister, Elizabeth Joy. Elizabeth and her 19 week old twins passed away due to complications from her pregnancy.

Initially Hassett put the script away and halted any plans for a film company. Urged by friends and family, Hassett moved forward and JOY serves as a love letter to her deceased sister. Hassett says it is bringing her family great "joy" to announce that the film is finally coming to the big screen. The Red Love Team is now focused on showing the completed film on the film festival circuit with a focus on selling and securing distribution.

The film was co-produced by The Foundation of Joy (http://www.foundationofjoy.org/), a non-profit organization established in honor of Elizabeth Joy Hassett that seeks to support adoption programs, fertility research and pregnancy wellness. A portion of the film's proceeds will benefit the organization, which also benefitted from a silent auction held at the screening.

Red Love Film currently has a number of feature films in pre-production including the academic thriller Parlour Game. They are also in the process of selling The Blue Marble Gang (http://www.bluemarblegang.com/), an animated kids show focusing on the environment and are currently in production on Off Track (http://www.offtrackdocumentary.com/) -- a documentary focusing on the inadequacies in the law that victimize child prostitutes.
