IN THE ATTIC 2-CD/1-DVD RETROSPECTIVE TO DEBUT AS BEST BUY EXCLUSIVE ON MARCH 3, 2009
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Best Buy's special presentation of "Rachel Fuller IN THE ATTIC with Pete Townshend and Friends" delivered an extraordinary night of music and camaraderie at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Friday, November 7. The sold-out event, which raised funds for the Recording Academy's MusiCares(R) Foundation, took place the night prior to a pair of Who shows in L.A. last weekend. Joining Townshend and singer-songwriter Fuller (his longtime girlfriend) onstage at the intimate venue were Jakob Dylan, She & Him - a.k.a. Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward - E of Eels and Ben Gibbard from Deathcab For Cutie.

In a review for Variety, Phil Gallo wrote, "In a short private conversation prior to the start of the acoustic song-swap led by Rachel Fuller, Pete Townshend said one reason the Who has only slightly changed its setlists in the last two years is to limit the number of mistakes. That's hardly a concern at the charming In the Attic shows at which younger musicians play their own songs and partner with Townshend, prompting the Who leader to dust off pages of his catalog. Friday, the perfs were unfeigned and enticing, even when the material had no connection with the star."
Best Buy presents Rachel Fuller IN THE ATTIC with Pete Townshend and Friends at the Troubadour celebrated the forthcoming March 3, 2009 release of a 2-CD/1-DVD set collecting highlights from past In The Attic concerts that will be a Best Buy Exclusive (Fuller first launched the series with a live webcast from Townshend's London studio Oceanic in September 2005). Titled Rachel Fuller Presents In The Attic With Pete Townshend And Friends, the three-disc package will retail for $16.99, and features performances from acclaimed shows at Joe's Pub in NYC and The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.
The November 7 Troubadour staging of IN THE ATTIC also coincided with the opening of the new Musical Instruments Store inside the Best Buy location in West Los Angeles (11301 W. Pico Blvd., LA, CA 90064). Concert highlights included Townshend teaming with: Dylan on the Who classic "The Kids Are Alright"; with She & Him on the rarity "Blue, Red And Grey"; and on his solo hit "Let My Love Open The Door" with Gibbard and E. The evening closed with a potent solo acoustic set from Townshend.
LAist.com wrote, "He got off the stool and prowled the stage like that figure we've all seen a million times on TV, ready to fill up the biggest stages known to man. There is something that happens when Pete Townshend is on his game, and to witness it up close is no small thing. It's as if all the potential that the guitar could possibly hold is being displayed for you, right in front of your face ... I'd swear for his three song solo set, he was riding about six inches above the ground as he rammed into "The Acid Queen," "Drowned" and "Won't Get Fooled Again" and drew new blood from each one."
