Backward Heroes Wins Two (Count 'Em) DoubleClick Digital Movie Advertising Creative Showcase Awards

Design studio takes home top honors for rich media and video work on New Line Cinema's Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Golden Compass

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Backward Heroes, an interactive media design studio based in Santa Monica, CA, received two awards for outstanding rich media design and development work on New Line Cinema's high-profile feature film marketing campaigns, The Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Golden Compass. At the Digital Movie Advertising Creative Showcase (D.M.A.C.S.) event held in Los Angeles on October 22, Backward Heroes took home the award for Best Rich Media Campaign category for theatrical films and Best Multi-Channel Campaign category, for theatrical and home entertainment films.

For The Golden Compass, Backward Heroes developed the Web site, social networking site take-overs of MySpace(TM) and Yahoo(TM), and rich media banners. For The Journey to the Center of the Earth, they designed a rich media campaign.

"Backward Heroes is a design and rich media company, but first and foremost, we are huge fans of the entertainment industry. So to be recognized by such a distinguished group for something that we love to do, just doesn't get any better," said Ryan Antista, creative director for Backward Heroes, who was on-hand to accept the awards, along with David Nichols, Producer and John Farrell, Programmer.

The D.M.A.C.S. event's host, Susan Lambert, an independent producer and creative strategy consultant with more than 10 years of marketing experience added, "This was our third annual awards and each year the bar for outstanding creative is raised. It was impressive to see Backward Heroes win in two categories. The Journey to the Center of the Earth rich media ads were dramatic, effective and lots of fun while the multi-channel digital campaign for The Golden Compass was gorgeous, integrated and well-executed."

Backward Heroes' recent work has included rich media campaigns for Don't Mess with the Zohan (Sony Pictures), Rock-N-Rolla (Warner Bros.), and websites for the T-Mobile Tony Hawk Side-Kick (Publicis) and the feature film Flash of Genius (Universal Pictures).
