Greater Oklahoma - Women In Film and Television International

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- It began with an email to Congresswoman and Former Lt. Governor Mary Fallin from Annette D. Colbert-Beavers, CEO of Visage Production, Inc. (http://www.visageproduction.net/). Annette asked the Congresswoman to serve as Honorary Chair for the Greater Oklahoma chapter of Women In Film and Television International. After Congresswoman Mary Fallin checked with the Ethics Commission, she gave Annette the nod of approval.

Since that email, notes and phone calls went out to others about the importance of having a State Chapter to help women get a foothold in the very male-oriented business of filmmaking as well as television.

With women increasingly entering the hierarchy of Film and Television business, the need for training, mentoring, coaching and demonstration of abilities is becoming fast competitive as this industry increases in globalization. "You have to have a finished product that endorses you," states Annette D. Colbert-Beavers, "and that's why we need GO-WIFTI in Oklahoma City. We will work to see opportunities for scholarships as well as some of the film and television projects that National does in Oklahoma."
