Best Buy Presents Rachel Fuller 'In The Attic' With Pete Townshend and Friends - an Exclusive One-Night Event - at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on November 7
IN THE ATTIC 2-CD/1-DVD SET TO BE RELEASED AS BEST BUY EXCLUSIVE ON MARCH 3, 2009
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On Friday, November 7, Best Buy presents Rachel Fuller IN THE ATTIC with Pete Townshend and Friends -- an exclusive one-night event -- at the Troubadour club in Los Angeles. Doors are at 8PM, showtime is 9:30PM. Unplugged, intimate and informal, previous IN THE ATTIC live shows have been applauded for their straight-from-the-heart charm, unique collaborations and impromptu jam sessions from an always inspiring mix of legendary and emergent musical talent. Reviewing a previous LA show, Ann Powers of the Los Angeles Times commented that singer-songwriter Fuller, rock icon Townshend and friends held "a sweaty audience in thrall. The whole affair proved how much pop fans prefer the cozy Web-fueled pop scene to the distanced spectacle of arena rock."
Best Buy has generously made a limited number of tickets to this extraordinary concert event available through the Recording Academy's MusiCares(R) Foundation. Proceeds from the sales of these tickets will support MusiCares' efforts to provide a critical safety net of assistance to artists and music people in times of crisis (for more information, visit http://www.musicares.com/). To purchase, go to http://www.ticketsforcharity.com/ and click on the Troubadour/Rachel Fuller/Pete Townshend link. Some tickets to Rachel Fuller IN THE ATTIC with Pete Townshend and Special Guests will also be available to the public through a Best Buy-sponsored radio promotion starting November 3, 2008, and a very limited allotment will go on sale through Ticketmaster on November 6, 2008 at 1PM.
This very special staging of IN THE ATTIC at the Troubadour celebrates Best Buy's ongoing commitment to offering the best in music -- from exclusive CDs and DVDs to its new roll-out of Musical Instrument stores -- including the forthcoming 2-CD/1-DVD set Rachel Fuller Presents IN THE ATTIC With Pete Townshend and Friends. Scheduled for release as a Best Buy Exclusive on March 3, 2009, the three-disc bundle (priced at $16.99) features nearly three hours of music including performances captured at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles and Joe's Pub in New York City. Writing about an interlude of Who songs delivered by Townshend at the latter show, Andy Greene noted in Rolling Stone's Rock & Roll Daily that, "The four song set was the single greatest solo acoustic performance I've ever witnessed."
The Troubadour date also coincides with the opening of the Musical Instruments Store inside the Best Buy location in West Los Angeles (11301 W. Pico Blvd., LA, CA 90064). Conceived as a "store within a store" to present a deeper and more complete musical experience to consumers, Best Buy's Musical Instrument Stores feature the best and latest gear -- with options for all levels of players -- for guitarists, bass players, drummers, keyboardists and DJs. At every Best Buy Musical Instrument Store (more than 80 stores are planned to open nationwide before the end of 2009), experienced musicians are on-hand to help explore the gear, in-store lessons are available and knowledgeable support is offered before and after every purchase. Best Buy's introduction of musical instruments is a natural progression of their tradition as a trusted resource for music in a variety of formats.
IN THE ATTIC is the brainchild of singer-songwriter and classically trained musician Rachel Fuller. The unique musical and conversational roundtable grew out of a collaboration between Fuller and friend and fellow musician Mikey Cuthbert, which was sparked by freeform jamming in her attic. Fuller invited her life and songwriting partner Pete Townshend to be the featured guest on the very first online version of IN THE ATTIC, which webcast live from the Who legend's southwest London studio Oceanic in September 2005. Since then, IN THE ATTIC has charmed audiences globally via an online chat show, live concerts and worldwide Web casts of performances from venues, dressing rooms and an Airstream trailer that Fuller and Townshend toured across Europe following the Who's 2006-2007 tour.
