Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and PointRoll Partner to Launch First-Ever Personalized Ad Campaign for Shutter DVD Release
LOS ANGELES, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (TCFHE) announced today that it has partnered with PointRoll, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gannett Co. Inc. (NYSE:GCI), and the leading provider of rich media technology solutions, to develop and launch the first-of-its-kind ad campaign featuring user-created "fear photos" for the DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) release of Shutter.
TCFHE worked with ThinkJam to develop www.shutterdvd.com, the official Shutter DVD and BD website that provides consumers the tools to create, distribute and embed "fear photos" of themselves, friends and family with ghostly images on social networking profiles. These photos are then incorporated into a PointRoll-developed advertising unit and are served online through a variety of publishers, allowing participating consumers to see themselves in a Shutter DVD ad banner. This innovative technology generates the most personalized advertising experience possible and is a first of its kind. In addition to partnering with PointRoll, TCFHE also worked with ThinkJam on all creative content and Moxie Interactive on the extensive media buy.
"We are committed to delivering highly personal campaigns that empower our brand advertising clients to deliver, track and manage the success of their creative," said Dea Lawrence, Vice President of Sales, Western Region, PointRoll. "The customized approach developed for TCFHE's Shutter DVD and BD release takes advertising to the next level by establishing a one-to-one dialogue between the user and the ad instead of the traditional one-way message from the ad to the user."
From the executive producers of The Ring and The Grudge, Shutter stars Joshua Jackson (Bobby, "Dawson's Creek") and Rachael Taylor (Transformers). Soon after New York newlyweds Ben (Jackson) and Jane (Taylor) arrive in Japan for Ben's latest photography assignment, they discover disturbing, ghostly reflections of a young woman in their own photos. This inexplicable "spirit image" may be connected to Ben's past, but she's determined to provide the couple with a horrifying future of relentless vengeance from which there is no escape.
Shutter is now available as both an unrated and rated DVD. The Shutter Unrated DVD is packed with shocking uncut footage not shown in theaters plus a twisted alternate ending, multiple behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes and an exclusive first look at the horror film Mirrors starring Kiefer Sutherland. Shutter will also be available in high-definition format on Blu-ray Disc featuring all of the bonus material from the Unrated DVD and more.
