NYC Produces Gas Station TV's Next BroadcaSTAR(TM)

Jason 'JB' Basso named winner of nationwide talent search for the face of GSTV

DETROIT, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Gas Station TV (http://www.gstv.com/), a Destination Media network and the industry leader in digital out-of-home television, today announces Jason "JB" Basso of New York City is the winner of the "Gas Station TV's Wanna Be A BroadcaSTAR(TM)" contest. The contest awards Basso with a hosting position for a series of national broadcast lifestyle segments on the Gas Station TV (GSTV) network and a cash prize.

The BroadcaSTAR contest began April 12 and encouraged contestants to submit video entries on http://www.beabroadcastar.com/ . From May 12 -- June 30, more than 31,000 votes were cast to narrow down the 10 finalists to one grand prize winner. In addition, nearly 60,000 sweepstakes entries were received in the "Gas Station TV's Wanna Be a BroadcaSTAR" sweepstakes. Of all promotion visitors, a high percentage, 41 percent, opted in to receive future communication from GSTV and its partners.

"Never before has a digital out-of-home network launched a consumer-targeted marketing campaign of such breadth and depth," said Catherine Archer, marketing manager. "We started the BroadcaSTAR contest with a live casting call, opened up submissions nationally through online video upload, and offered a sweepstakes in addition to the contest. This integrated on- and off-line campaign truly engaged consumers, driving them from the pump to the computer screen.

The lifestyle segment hosted by Basso will run more than 2,700 times per day at each station on the GSTV network. The first segment with Basso will be taped in early Fall and will feature topics such as technology, entertainment, health, travel, sports and more. Segments can be sponsored by marketers and will include brand integration opportunities -- providing a new consumer engagement experience for GSTV advertisers.

"Call-to-action campaigns on our digital out-of-home network consistently provide measurable consumer engagement for brand marketers and this contest is yet another example of GSTV's success attracting consumer attention at the pump," said David Leider, CEO of GSTV. "We are overwhelmed by the positive response of our viewers to JB's audition, look forward to bringing him on as our lifestyle segment host and are confident he will quickly become a viewer favorite."

An experienced on-air journalist and behind-the-scenes producer, new GSTV lifestyle segment host Basso is a recipient of numerous journalistic awards including multiple Telly and NPPA awards, a Platinum Aurora Award, a Press Club Award and has been nominated for an Emmy. Basso is also an accomplished actor and has had roles in movies including "World Trade Center" and "Spinning into Butter" and on television shows including "30 Rock", "Rescue Me" and "Saturday Night Live".

"We took advantage of our leadership position in the digital out-of-home market to not only launch the first consumer awareness campaign but also to offer the first and only brand integration opportunity to digital out-of-home advertisers," remarked Leider. "We continue to provide the best-of-class measurement and marketing opportunities to our big brand marketer clients."
