Forty-Five Percent of U-S Employees Have Gained Weight at Their Current Jobs, CareerBuilder-dot-com Study Finds

Swimsuit season is right around the corner and for many people that means one thing: dieting. In an office setting, though, cutting back on calories and finding time to exercise can seem like an impassable hurdle, as a new CareerBuilder-dot-com survey reports, forty-five percent of workers have gained weight at their current jobs, similar to last year's findings. The survey was conducted this spring on almost eight-thousand workers. Twenty-six percent of employee's report they have gained more than ten pounds and twelve percent say they gained more than twenty pounds while in their present positions.

NASA Study Links Earth Impacts to Human-Caused Climate Change

A new NASA-led study shows human-caused climate change has made an impact on a wide range of Earth's natural systems, including permafrost thawing, plants blooming earlier across Europe, and lakes declining in productivity in Africa. Scientists at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Science in New York and ten other institutions have linked physical and biological impacts since 1970 with rises in temperatures during that period. The study, to be published in the journal Nature, concludes human-caused warming is resulting in a broad range of impacts across the globe.
