Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend at the 17th Annual Marc's Great American Rib Cook-Off & Music Festival

CLEVELAND, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The unofficial kickoff to summer in Northeast Ohio is the 17th Annual Marc's Great American Rib Cook-Off & Music Festival, presented by Mountain Dew, Friday! in The Plain Dealer, WKYC-TV 3 and Cleveland.com. The BBQ battle takes place Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26, 2008 at Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City in downtown Cleveland. Ten grill teams from Texas to New Jersey compete throughout the weekend for "Greatest Ribs in America," "Greatest Sauce in America" and "People's Choice" awards.

This year, the locally owned and operated Marc's retail chain has proudly staked its claim as the new title sponsor for the city's most anticipated barbecue showdown.

The weekend begins Friday, May 23 with FREE LUNCHTIME ADMISSION from 11am to 4pm, compliments of WNWV-FM. Stick around Friday night to see Cleveland's own Colin Dussault's Blues Project and Grammy Award winner Jonny Lang. On Saturday, May 24, Dennis DeYoung and The Music of STYX performs on the Bud Light Main Stage. Alternative rockers Seether with special guest Flyleaf and opener RED rock out Sunday, May 25. On Monday, May 26, KC & The Sunshine Band strap on their boogie shoes for disco lovin' rib fans. For an additional charge, fans can purchase prime reserved seat tickets for Jonny Lang, Dennis DeYoung and The Music of STYX as well as KC & The Sunshine Band. On Saturday, May 24, the pros step aside to make way for the Marc's Amateur Grilling Competition. Five contestants have three racks of ribs and two hours to create a BBQ masterpiece worth bragging about. The winner will receive a $250 Marc's gift card and a special guest appearance on WKYC-TV 3's Good Company.
