Belo Television Stations Win 32 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

DALLAS, April 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Belo Corp. (NYSE:BLC) announced today that eleven of its television stations earned a total of 32 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for 2008. The regional Murrow Awards are given by the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) which recognizes outstanding achievement in electronic journalism and acknowledges news organizations for continuing to set the standard in the broadcast news profession.

Two Belo television stations, WFAA-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth and KVUE-TV in Austin, won the noteworthy overall excellence award for their consistent delivery and ongoing commitment to providing outstanding journalism in their local communities. In addition to overall excellence, WFAA was recognized with five other awards including continuing coverage, feature reporting, news series, videography-TV only and Web site. KVUE also took home five additional Murrows including newscast, investigative reporting, sports reporting, spot news coverage and videography-TV only.

WCNC-TV, Belo's NBC affiliate in Charlotte, earned a total of five awards in the categories of continuing coverage, feature reporting, news series, sports reporting and spot news coverage. KTVB in Boise won four honors including newscast, continuing coverage, feature reporting and videography.

The RTNDA received a total of 3,459 regional entries this year and has recognized outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971.
