SAN RAMON, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, May 3, more than 4,000 local Comcast employees and their families and friends will volunteer to improve 28 schools throughout California as part of Comcast's seventh annual "Comcast Cares Day." "Comcast is embedded in thousands of communities across the country, and we're very proud that approximately 50,000 of our employees, their families and friends will be giving their time to help improve their neighborhoods," said Comcast Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brian L. Roberts. "Comcast Cares Day is the cornerstone celebration of a year-long commitment to our community, and we're thrilled to once again partner with organizations across the country to help make this special day a resounding success."

Comcast Volunteering Continues Long After Cares Day

In addition to the thousands of hours of service for schools on May 3rd, Comcast employees in California volunteer their time year-round to a variety of projects and organizations through the company's Comcast Cares program.

"Comcast is committed to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve throughout the year, and especially on Comcast Cares Day when we'll be working to improve California schools for our children to be in safer, cleaner and better environments in which to learn and prosper," added Steve White, Regional Senior Vice President for Comcast California. "There is nothing more rewarding than giving back, and I'm grateful to the 4,000 Comcast Cares Day volunteers in California who will be donating their time to help make such a big difference."

The Comcast Foundation will also donate more than $1.5 million in grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each volunteer who participates on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year.
