Sell-out expected for the only Academy Awards party in Massachusetts sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences - a benefit for Needham, Mass.-based The Ellie Fund

BOSTON, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- With the wrap of the writers' strike, a constellation of stars are appearing at The Ellie Fund's eleventh annual Oscar Night(R) America, the state's only Academy Awards(R) celebration officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Movie buffs have the opportunity to rub elbows with the stars while watching the live telecast of the 80th Academy Awards(R) and viewing the official Academy Awards(R) programs straight from Hollywood. Held this Sunday, February 24, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hard Rock Cafe, 22-24 Clinton St, Boston, the glamorous party and telecast also features live music, dancing, and an auction with exclusive music and movie memorabilia, fabulous prizes and gift bags.

Founded in 1994, The Ellie Fund is a Needham-based non-profit organization fighting breast cancer and easing its effects on patients and families across Massachusetts.

This year's celebration will be emceed by WCVB-TV5 reporters David Brown and Susan Wornick, alongside the evening's sponsor Ernie Boch Jr. of Subaru New England.

According to Julie Nations, Ellie Fund executive director, "This event is a terrific way to rub elbows with the stars, get your photo taken with a real Oscar statuette, and support the Ellie Fund and the success of our state's film industry." All proceeds benefit the Needham-based Ellie Fund's innovative "Care for the Caregiver" program which provides transportation to medical appointments, daycare, housekeeping, and meals free of charge for breast cancer patients and families statewide.
