President Lincoln's Cottage Opens to Public, Brings Hidden Piece of History to Light in Washington

President Lincoln's Cottage, the newest Historic Site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, has officially opened its doors. The Cottage, where Abraham Lincoln lived for a quarter of his presidency, is located on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home three miles north of the White House.

As part of the grand opening celebrations, a rare copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, signed by Lincoln, will be on display from February 19th through April 30th, 2008 in the Robert H Smith Visitor Education Center.

President Lincoln's Cottage has undergone a 15-million dollar restoration by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox Interactive Media, 19 Entertainment, FremantleMedia and Apple, for the first time, have partnered to bring music fans all of the contestant performances from Season Seven of television's most popular show exclusively on the iTunes(R) Store. Kicking off with the "American Idol" Top 24 semifinalists this week, customers can purchase music performances for 99 cents per song, and viewers will be able to purchase the full video of Top 12 finalist performances for a dollar-99, starting March eleventh. In addition, fans can now pre-order performances of their favorite contestants from the iTunes Store, which will be automatically downloaded the day after the show airs.

Virginia Businessman and Helicopter Pilot Breaks Transcontinental New York to Los Angeles Speed Record

Northern Virginia businessman, community activist and helicopter pilot Scott Kasprowicz broke the international New York to Los Angeles transcontinental rotorcraft speed record on Saturday, February 16th, 2008.

Kasprowicz broke the New York to Los Angeles transcontinental speed record with an all-inclusive flight time of 15 hours, nine minutes and ten seconds. The previous record, set in 1985, was 19 hours, zero minutes and 16 seconds.

Kasprowicz along with co-pilot Steve Sheik, made the record setting flight in helicopter N-1-U-S, Kasprowicz's standard factory outfitted, executive configuration AgustaWestland Grand helicopter. The record is validated, recorded and maintained by the National Aeronautics Association.
