Coming to the Defense of Cats
Canine companions have a paw up on our feline friends when it comes to visits to the veterinarian, leaving cats shortchanged and in need of some tender loving care.
According to a report in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, cats don't get the same affection -- or medical attention -- from their owners as dogs do.
Pet owners, the study found, generally have stronger bonds with their dogs than their cats, are likely to be more attached to dogs and thus more attentive to their needs. That's bad news for cats.
Study results show that pet owners took their dogs to the veterinarian for vaccinations, regular physical exams and preventive dental care more often than they took their cats.

13 Million U.S. Households Not Yet Ready for Digital Television Conversion, Nielsen Says
A report by the Nielsen Company says more than 13 million households with television sets that can only receive analog broadcasts are currently unprepared for the transition to all digital broadcasting that is scheduled for February 18, 2009. Another six million households have at least one television set that would no longer work after that date.

Kids Split Over Whether They Want to be President, Says Scholastic News(R) Election Poll
Would you want to be President of the United States? According to a recent election year poll by Scholastic News, America's leading news source for kids, most kids would pass on a job in the Oval Office, especially girls. More than 30-thousand students in first through eighth grades from across the country took part in the poll. 55 percent of participating students said that they would not want to be President. 45 percent of participating students said that they would want to be President. 66 percent of boy respondents said yes to being President and 34 percent said no. 19 percent of girl respondents said yes to being President and 81 percent said no.

Americans Split on Prenuptial Agreements, According to New Thomson West Poll
Would you sign a prenuptial agreement before you say, "I do"? A new survey by Thomson West, a leading legal information solutions provider, finds that Americans are evenly split on the issue, but are open to at least considering a prenup.
Forty-one percent of Americans say they might sign a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement if their spouse or partner asked them to. An equal percentage -- 41 percent -- said they likely would not sign an agreement. Eighteen percent said they weren't sure what they would do in such a situation.
