'Rockstar Curling' Gives Everyday Americans the Chance to Become Olympic Hopefuls for USA Curling

NEW YORK, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Do you have what it takes to be an Olympian? Find out at www.RockstarCurling.com, and sign up for an opportunity to do something extraordinary. "Rockstar Curling" is a sports reality show that provides everyday athletically inclined Americans with the chance to try out for a possible spot on the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team in the sport of curling. The 10-episode series, currently in development, would air leading up to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in February.

"Rockstar Curling" intends to hold nationwide tryouts in 2008 open to participants 18-years and older. A panel of curling coaches will select two teams of athletes -- five men and five women -- who will spend approximately six months, all expenses paid, training eight hours a day with professional curling coaches. Both teams will then participate in the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team Trials process for curling with the hopes of making the team, and quite possibly representing their country in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C. All tryouts, training and competitions will be filmed for the series, which includes nine 30-minute weekly episodes, and an hour-long season finale.

"'Rockstar Curling' has the potential to fulfill dreams, create heroes and build a sport," said Charlie Horsey, CEO of mktgpartners, the company that created "Rockstar Curling." "It's 'American Idol' meets the Olympics."

Curling was the surprise television hit of the 2002 Winter Olympics, and again in 2006, when the USA men's curling team won a bronze medal in Torino. The U.S. Curling Association currently has more than 13,000 members and 140 clubs in the U.S.

"We feel that the 'Rockstar Curling' concept is innovative, creative, and will help U.S. Curling develop new awareness, interest and participation in our sport across America," said Rick Patzke, chief operating officer of the U.S. Curling Association.

"Rockstar Curling" is created by mktgpartners, the innovative entertainment and sports marketing agency (www.mktgpartners.net). The company will also executive produce, and has partnered with Emmy award-winning Carr- Hughes Productions to produce the series.
