BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the overwhelming demand for its 3-D feature version of Walt Disney Pictures' "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," and the film's record breaking opening weekend (2/1-3) performance as the nation's #1 film with an astounding three-day tally of $29 million, Disney is extending the length of the film's theatrical run, it was announced today by Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group. The Disney Digital 3-D(TM) feature length concert film, which also features a special appearance by the enormously popular Jonas Brothers, will now play extended engagements. The film bowed in 683 3-D venues on February 1 and established a new industry record not only for Super Bowl weekend but for a Digital 3-D film opening with a per screen average of over $42,000 and a CinemaScore rating of "A".

"Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert" in Disney Digital 3-D(TM) was directed by Disney veteran Bruce Hendricks, and produced by Art Repola. Acclaimed director Kenny Ortega (the "High School Musical" films), conceived and produced the actual concert tour, and makes a special guest appearance in the film. Seven state-of-the-art 3-D digital cameras, provided by Cameron/Pace Designs (and utilizing the same innovative technology being used on James Cameron's upcoming 3D film, "Avatar") were used in the making of the film. Mitch Amundsen ("Transformers" and Martin Scorsese's upcoming documentary, "Shine a Light") served as director of photography, and Michael Tronick ("Hairspray") was the editor.
