Awareness and Education Imperative, but Action Is Critical Next Step
WASHINGTON, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tom Nelson, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AARP released the following statement as the nation approaches the one-year-out mark of the digital TV (DTV) transition:
"AARP is working to educate the public and raise awareness about the information and resources that are available," said Tom Nelson, COO of AARP. "The imperative next step is that folks turn that awareness into action and to prepare for this transition."
"AARP continues to educate its members through our publications AARP The Magazine, AARP Bulletin and Segunda Juventud. We have made a concerted effort to work with government and industry through the DTV Transition Coalition, where we sit on the steering committee. We have also participated in hearings, workshops and briefings on the Hill to ensure that all our partners in government understand -- and address -- the needs of older Americans during the transition."
