Wegener Corporation Reports Results for First Quarter of Fiscal 2008
DULUTH, Ga., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR), a leading provider of products for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2008 ended November 30, 2007.
First quarter revenue for fiscal 2008 increased to $5.0 million from $4.8 million reported in the same period of fiscal 2007. In addition to increased revenue, operating results also improved. The Company reported a small net loss of ($51,000) or less than ($0.01) per share for the first quarter of fiscal 2008. This compares to a net loss of ($962,000) or ($0.08) for the same period in 2007.
WEGENER's eighteen-month backlog was $9.9 million at November 30, 2007, compared to $11.2 million at December 1, 2006. The total multi-year backlog at November 30, 2007 was approximately $16.5 million compared to $19.9 million at December 1, 2006. Bookings for the first quarter of fiscal 2008 were $3.6 million compared to $4.8 million for the same period in fiscal 2007.

WEGENER(R) recently announced that a new high definition cable channel is using their Unity(R) 4600 receivers with Compel(R) network control. Additionally, significant orders for the Unity(R) 552 next generation private network receiver, as well as a complete, new iPump system for Telesat in Canada, were also announced.

As they gain recognition in the market, we anticipate increased demand for these new products."
