How Much Does It Take to be Rich? The Wealthy Say At Least $5 Million

How much money does it take to be considered rich? It turns out that one million dollars just doesn't cut it, anymore.

In fact, rich today requires at least five million dollars, according to a new survey of affluent households, defined as those with investable assets of 500-thousand dollars or more. When asked how much money it takes to be rich, 45 percent chose five million, 25 percent selected 25 million, and eight picked 100 million, according to the research by Millionaire Corner, a newly launched website powered by Spectrem Group. Only 22 percent said one million dollars is enough to be rich.

2007 Online Holiday Shopping Season Surpasses $29 Billion in Sales, Up 19 Percent Versus Year Ago

comScore has released its final update of holiday season e-commerce spending for the 2007 holiday season. 29-point-two billion dollars was spent online during the holiday season, marking a 19-percent gain versus the same period last year.

Video games, consoles and accessories was the fastest growing online retail category, jumping 129 percent versus the 2006 holiday season, with popular consoles like Nintendo Wii (wee) and Sony PlayStation and games like Halo Three driving strong sales in the category. Furniture, appliances and equipment, event tickets, and consumer electronics also experienced above average growth.

1 Million Youth in America with Hearing Loss May be Left Behind, National Survey Finds; Even 'Minor' Hearing Loss Causes Major Problems

An estimated one-point-four million youth have hearing loss, but only 12 percent wear hearing devices, according to a national study released by the Better Hearing Institute.

Untreated hearing loss among young people was shown to lead to social, emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties, according to the study. Three out of four parents indicated their child experienced "minor" to "serious" problems due to their hearing loss. The most serious problems experienced were social skills, grades in school and language development, emotional health, relationships with peers, self-esteem, and relationships with family.
