Tasty Baking Company Announces Ten Finalists in Its 'Search for the 2nd Verse' Jingle Contest
Tastykake, in conjunction with Peter Nero and The Philly Pops(R), has narrowed the field in its search for the next line of this classic tune; winning verse to be unveiled during Holiday Pops! concert.
PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Tasty Baking Company today unveiled the names of the ten finalists in its "Search for the 2nd Verse" jingle contest. The competition, through which Tasty seeks to find a catchy line to follow the beloved first verse of the company's famous advertising jingle, "Nobody bakes a cake as tasty as a Tastykake," launched November 8, 2007 in conjunction with Tastykake's sponsorship of Peter Nero and The Philly Pops'(R) Holiday Pops! Series. Open to anyone aged 18 and under, the "Search for the 2nd Verse" received over 400 entries in the three weeks that lyric submissions were accepted. Contest entries were then judged by a panel comprised of representatives from Tasty Baking Company and Peter Nero and The Philly Pops(R) and the following individuals have been selected as the ten finalists (in no particular order):

2. Eric W. Johanson, Knapp Elementary School
3. Steven Jordan, Girard College
4. Kyle Kirk, Pitman High School
5. Michael C. Schwenger, Norwood-Fontbonne Academy
6. Emily Talluto, St. Agnes School
7. Annelise Zitzer, Gwynedd Mercy Academy
8. Molly, Pitman High School
9. Jillian, Mast Community Charter School
10. Wil, Lower Moreland High School
The Grand Prize Winner will be announced Wednesday, December 12th. The winning verse will be debuted live by Peter Nero and the Philly Pops(R) at the Holiday Pops! performance at The Kimmel Center on Saturday, December 15, 2007. The winner's school music program will receive a $2500 donation from Tastykake as well as tickets to the Kimmel Center on December 15, 2007 to see Peter Nero and the Philly Pops(R).
A First and Second Prize Winner will also be named in the "Search for the 2nd Verse." Tastykake will make a $1000 donation and a $500 donation, respectively, to those individuals' school music programs. The First and Second Prize Winners will also receive tickets to The Kimmel Center on December 15, 2007 to see Peter Nero and The Philly Pops(R).
