Presidential Election Channel 'POTUS '08' on XM Radio to Broadcast Nationwide from Iowa and New Hampshire

WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The 24-hour presidential election channel "POTUS '08" on XM Satellite Radio will broadcast live and nationwide from Iowa and New Hampshire in January as the first voters cast their ballots to determine the next commander-in-chief.

"POTUS" is a term used by government officials for President of the United States, and "POTUS '08" is the nation's first and only radio channel dedicated to the presidential race all day, every day.

"POTUS '08" will broadcast from Des Moines at the Polk County convention complex on Jan. 3 as Iowans gather for the Democratic and Republican caucuses.

Then the POTUS team will be live from Manchester, N.H., for a primary preview on Jan. 7, primary day on Jan. 8, and a post-primary wrap-up on Jan. 9 from the Expo Center of New Hampshire. XM will broadcast from multiple locations in the two states, including the C-SPAN Campaign 2008 Bus.

"There has never been a national radio channel devoted to a presidential campaign 24 hours a day," said Scott Walterman, POTUS on-air host and XM senior director of news programming. "When the idea first came up, I said, 'This is insane.' But the channel has turned out to be remarkably compelling.

I think that's partly because this is a remarkable campaign, with no incumbent president or vice president on the ballot, and voters who are incredibly engaged in the process. Our team is on the ground in Iowa and New Hampshire, as well as our home studio here in the nation's capital."

"POTUS '08" is heard from coast to coast on XM channel 130. As a public service, XM is broadcasting the channel for free to all XM radios. Web users can listen to "POTUS '08" for free for two weeks by signing up for a free trial at www.xmradio.com/potus

"POTUS '08" airs radio shows produced by XM and a broad variety of content partners, including C-SPAN, the Washington Post, National Journal, Slate, the polling group Zogby International, the political blog network Pajamas Media, and the TV networks CNN, ABC, and FOX News.
