From 'Sopranos' Premiere to 'Entourage' Finale, Philippe Bergeron Guest Stars in Flagship Episodes

From 'Sopranos' Premiere to 'Entourage' Finale, Philippe Bergeron Guest Stars in Flagship Episodes

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- From a French-Canadian mobster opposite James Gandolfini in "The Sopranos" season premiere to a French press organizer in the "Entourage" season finale, (HBO, Sunday, September 2nd) Philippe Bergeron appears in two of the most anticipated television episodes of the year.

"I feel very fortunate to have been cast in HBO's two most visible shows, in key episodes, the same year," says Bergeron, who can be seen as the baccarat dealer opposite Chris Tucker in "Rush Hour 3," currently in theaters.

"I knew 'The Sopranos' was going to be a big deal, being in the pivotal scene of the season premiere of the final season," continues Bergeron. And then, while reading the script of "Entourage," Bergeron thought it was way too big for a normal episode. "It's set during the Cannes Film Festival with a cast of thousands," notes Bergeron. So he called the production office, and lo and behold, found out it was the finale. "The stars were in alignment," he continues.

And while both are flagship episodes for HBO, the similarities end there. In fact, the roles couldn't be more different.

In "The Sopranos," which aired in April, Bergeron appeared as a low-life French-Canadian mobster putting a contract on his brother-in-law with the help of Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) and Bobby (Steven R. Schirripa,) who had just been in a fight together. In "Entourage," set in the rarified world of Cannes, Bergeron cleans up nicely as a tuxedo-clad French press organizer introducing Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) to the international press.

"There was definitely electricity in the air, since it was also the very last day of shooting," adds Bergeron who saw his first "Entourage" episode barely three days before getting the audition. "It was the Brett Ratner episode with Drama getting cast in 'Rush Hour 3', which is appropriate, since I'm in it," concludes Bergeron with a smile.

Bergeron, whose credits include "The Shield," "ER," "Alias," "Godzilla," "The Family Man," "Contact," "Las Vegas," and "JAG," will next be seen in the indie "Bottle Shock" opposite famed brit actor Alan Rickman, due in theaters in 2008.
