will.i.am's SONGS ABOUT GIRLS is on the Way - in Stores September 25th on will.i.am MUSIC GROUP/INTERSCOPE

Solo Album by Frontman/Producer of Multi-Platinum, Grammy Winning Group The Black Eyed Peas

First single 'I Got It From My Mama' at radio this week

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The countdown is on to the September 25th release of SONGS ABOUT GIRLS, the first solo album by will.i.am, frontman and producer of the multi-platinum three-time Grammy Award winning group The Black Eyed Peas. The new album adds another dimension to the successful career of will.i.am, who has established himself as one of music's top producers. He has collaborated on tracks with Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Kelis, Nas, the Game, Sergio Mendes, Carlos Santana, the Pussycat Dolls, Busta Rhymes, and of course fellow Black Eyed Pea, Fergie.

"I Got It From My Mama" (produced by will.i.am), the first single from SONGS ABOUT GIRLS, is on its way to Top 40 and Rhythm Crossover radio formats this week. Set to a clubby, electronic bounce, the song is will's take on the subject of genetics, how girls with certain spectacular attributes owe those assets to mama.

Snoop Dogg, featured on "Donque" is the only special guest artist on SONGS ABOUT GIRLS. "I didn't want to come out and say, 'Hey, I'm a producer and here are all my friends,'" will explained. "I wanted to be my own man and do my own thing and really try out some ideas that have been bubbling in my head."

A recent interview in Rolling Stone magazine paraphrased will's description of SONGS ABOUT GIRLS: "Boy meets girl. Boy gets girl. Boy goes to strip club. Boy gets caught cheating. Girl leaves. Boy and girl somehow get back together." The video concept for the album took shape in Brazil with director Brian Barber, long-time collaborator with OutKast on many of their clips, including the award-winning "Hey Ya!," who went on to direct their feature film Idlewild.

Black Eyed Peas aficionados know that will has previously released two solo albums of beats and extra songs on the British label BBE Records (Lost Change in 2001, and Must B 21 in 2003). But SONGS ABOUT GIRLS is his first effort outside the group that really harnesses all his creative energies. Along with original members apl.de.ap and Taboo, will has been at the helm of The Black Eyed Peas for their decade together, starting with their first album in 1998, Behind The Front (though he and apl were rapping together for ten years before that).

Bridging The Gap, the sophomore record from The Black Eyed Peas, arrived in 2000. But it was 2003's breakthrough album Elephunk, that turned the group into international superstars. The album spun off hit after hit, starting with the worldwide #1 "Where Is the Love" featuring Justin Timberlake, then "Shut Up," "Hey Mama," and "Let's Get It Started," which won the group its first of two Rap Grammy Awards.

The second came their way for "Don't Phunk With My Heart," the lead single from their fourth and most recent studio album, 2005's Monkey Business. The album also included the all-time classic "My Humps" which broke the Pop Grammy barrier for the group, winning them their third award. Together with the Renegotiations: The Remixes 8-track EP (March 2006) and the full-length live performance DVD Live From Sydney To Vegas (December 2006), the total global sales of The Black Eyed Peas records and videos exceed 20 million units.
