Leaders To Hold News Conference Call On Friday To Unite For Live Earth Concert

Series

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., will join Apollo Alliance president Jerome Ringo and MoveOn.org Political Action executive director Eli Pariser on a conference call with reporters on Friday to outline their support for Saturday's Live Earth concert series. The concerts, organized by former Vice President Al Gore, will rally global grassroots action to combat climate change. The 8 official Live Earth concerts will broadcast worldwide on TV, radio and the Internet, reaching all 7 continents, calling for major reductions in carbon dioxide emissions.

Sen. Boxer identified combating global warming as her top priority when becoming chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Ringo serves on the board of the Alliance for Climate Protection, which is running the Live Earth concert series. MoveOn.org, the Campaign for America's Future, the League of Conservation Voters, the Apollo Alliance and several other groups are co-hosting more than 7,000 house parties all over the world in conjunction with this weekend's concerts. MoveOn.org will also bring all the Democratic presidential candidates together online to compare their visions for solving the climate crisis.
