Screenmancer Offers Abe Vigoda's 'Love Story'

Screenmancer Offers Abe Vigoda's 'Love Story'

Filmmaker Francine Pellegrino First Ever to Offer Movie Deal Direct

LOS ANGELES, July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- While NetFlix and Blockbuster tout their skills at renting movies, Los Angeles-based Screenmancer is offering its first movie for sale. Writer/director Francine Pellegrino's feature length film "Sweet Destiny," the only love story ever made starring Abe Vigoda, is on the market via http://www.screenmancer.tv/. "We realized instantly that this is a great undiscovered project with star talent by a gutsy writer/director who didn't have the resources for a $10 million USD marketing campaign," said Quendrith Johnson, Screenmancer CEO. "So we decided to give film fans the ultimate experience: why just rent, when you can buy a movie outright?"

Vigoda said of his first romantic leading role: "Working on this was like working on 'The Godfather.' Francine Pellegrino, the director, gave me the freedom to create my own character." His love interest in the film is the elder beauty Carmen. "One of the most beautiful women in the world," he added, "Go figure." Carmen Dell'Orefice has been a familiar glamorous print presence since Vogue captured her Mod look in the 1970's to recently pitching Target(R) and other retailers' wares. Carmen, who falls for Vigoda's character in the film after years of separation, is best known as the "Original Supermodel."

Pellegrino personally cast Abe Vigoda after meeting with the actor in New York and coaxing "Tessio" from the Mario Puzo classic out of "retirement." On making the film, the first-time director said, "I saw 'The Sopranos,' I saw 'Moonstruck,' and I thought, 'well there must be an in-between here, where Italian themes in America don't look like blood, guts or comical heartache.' So I made a movie that I would want to go see with my kids, my mother, even grandparents. Because after all, although I love the picture, I would hardly call 'The Godfather' a 'family' movie. And you have no idea how suave Abe Vigoda can be until you see his performance."

"The Sopranos'" Frank Santorelli, a Boston-based stand-up comic, and John Fiore ("LA Law") appear alongside Vigoda and Carmen on screen. Frankie Avalon performs an original song with Livingston Taylor in the film. Pellegrino, who plays a strong single-mother lead without the stereotypes, offers streaming video on http://www.screenmancer.tv/VigodaFilm.htm.

Inquiries for a private bid and screening can be made in Los Angeles through Screenmancer at news@screenmancer.tv or 310.430.8381.
