The rocker, and new mom, is scheduled to appear in both print and television public service announcements supporting the 14th annual Q-V-C Presents "F-F-A-N-Y Shoes on Sale" breast cancer fundraising event, live on Q-V-C Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 7 PM - 10 PM Eastern Time. The three-hour broadcast features leading shoe designers offering more than 100-thousand pairs of shoes at half the manufacturer's suggested retail price, with all net proceeds from the program going to leading breast cancer research and education institutions. More Than Half of Adult Americans Say the FCC Should Have Authority to Fine Major TV Networks for Airing a Single Expletive

More than half of adult Americans say the Federal Communications Commission should have authority to fine any of the major broadcast T-V networks, such as N-B-C, A-B-C, C-B-S and FOX, for airing a single expletive or "four letter word." This is according to a new poll conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Morality in Media. Forty-two percent of adult Americans disagreed with the statement.

Hispaniola Screenplay Takes Prize for 4th Annual HBO/NYILFF Short Film Competition

HBO and the New York International Latino Film Festival have announced Hispaniola, a screenplay by Freddy Vargas, as the winner of the 4th Annual H-B-O/N-Y-I-L-F-F Short Film Competition. Vargas will receive a 15-thousand dollar grant from H-B-O to produce and direct a short film based on his original script. The competition, created in 2004, seeks to foster films by Latino filmmakers and/or about the Latino experience.
