Live Earth Asks: What's Your Live Impact?

Live Earth Asks: What's Your Live Impact?

Historic Concert Series to Feature First Ever Personalized Carbon and Lifestyle Calculator

SEATTLE, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- A first-ever carbon calculator providing carbon footprint and lifestyle scores to consumers was introduced today on the Live Earth website (http://www.liveearth.org/). Specially created for Live Earth, the "Live Impact" Earth Conservation Plan (ECP) Carbon and Lifestyle Calculator displays impact activities with the relevant reduction tips. Founded by Kevin Wall, Control Room CEO, and in partnership with Al Gore and the Alliance for Climate Protection, Live Earth is a 24-hour, eight-city, seven-continent concert aimed at raising awareness and inspiring behavioral change to combat the climate crisis.

"The ECP Carbon and Lifestyle Calculator is the personal call to action for the attendees and supporters of the Live Earth concerts," said Duane Dahl, creator of the ECP. "The ECP continues the momentum of the Live Earth concerts by showing how each of us individually can begin the journey of learning how we can reduce our impact on the earth. Getting your baseline score is the first step for all consumers to begin the process. It's more than just hybrids and light bulbs, there are thousands of simple solutions that allow consumers to take baby steps today. Combined with the steps of our neighbors, we can join together to make a significant contribution to change the course of global warming."

In addition to providing a baseline score, individuals learn about the climate crisis, their impact on the environment and what they can easily change over time to help the earth. The ECP calculator takes just minutes to complete and allows consumers to save and track their results, with a focus on the areas of Home, Energy, Commute, Travel, Work and Lifestyle.

Created and powered by EarthLab, the calculator helps embed a green approach into everyday living, ultimately educating and motivating consumers to improve the earth's climate.

"Live Earth's mission is to inspire a global audience to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives to combat the climate crisis," said Live Earth founder and Control Room CEO, Kevin Wall. "The Live Impact calculator clearly illustrates how many of our daily behaviors contribute to the problem and therefore, can be part of the solution."

The complete ECP Carbon and Lifestyle Calculator will be featured on the new groundbreaking site EarthLab.com to be unveiled worldwide on July 10, 2007. The ECP Carbon and Lifestyle Calculator can be found at http://www.liveearth.org/ or by visiting http://www.earthlab.com/liveearth.

About ECP

The Earth Conservation Plan score is based on the latest data available and calculated from an individual's carbon output and day-to-day approach to conservation. EarthLab maintains test accuracy by working closely with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Greenercars.com, Energy Information Administration (EIA), and the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). Test scores are directly linked to each member's ECP. Scores range from 150-900, lower scores are the best.

By answering a short series of questions designed specifically to analyze each individual's carbon footprint, EarthLab will deliver an ECP score online. Questions range from the size of residence to average utility bills, what kind of a car they drive, and personal energy habits.
