INGLEWOOD, Calif., July 3 /PRNewswire/ --
WHAT: The 7th annual "La Gota de la Vida Campaign," a year-long effort
to encourage Latinos to register in the National Marrow Donor
Program and help raise funds for City of Hope, will culminate
with a festival and concert featuring internationally known
recording artist Cristian Castro, Graciela Beltran, Tatiana, El
Mayo de la Sierra and Morrison. Admission to the benefit
concert is free and tickets will be distributed through Food 4
Less, Albertson's, Ralph's and Superior Warehouse stores. The
event also includes a bone marrow drive to increase the number
of Latino registrations to the National Marrow Donor Program.
The campaign is co-sponsored by Universal Music and Ritmo Latino
Music Stores and includes public service announcements, bone
marrow drives and community events.
To date, the campaign has raised over $1.2 million for City of
Hope, a leading research and treatment center for cancer and
other life-threatening diseases, and registered thousands of
Latino bone marrow donors. The festival will include the Angels
of Hope Awards to honor Latino professionals who have made
significant contributions in their respective careers and
inspirational individuals who have overcome cancer. This year,
the Awards ceremony will also bring together cancer survivor
Gustavo Perez and his bone marrow donor Jesus Soto where they
will meet for the first time.
