Tell The Grim Reaper To 'Take A Hike,' Because I Am, In Canada
Epic Production of '1000 Places To See Before You Die' on the Travel Channel Wraps Up First Season in Canada
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Some people believe that just before you pass over to the other side, you see a bright light. Then again, it could be the Aurora Borealis and you've just passed over into the Northwest Territories, Canada. It's time Americans "saw the light," as well as a few other really cool things just a drive or flight away.
Experts agree there's a lot of living to do in Canada (especially while you're on the right side of the grass!). According to Patricia Schultz, the best selling author of the book, "1000 Places To See Before You Die," the British Columbia region is one for the books and as it turns out, for millions of television viewers watching the Travel Channel as well.
On June 21, the hour-long series finale episode of "1,000 Places To See Before You Die" will air Thursday, June 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on the Travel Channel, and will follow its intrepid couple to British Columbia as they are amazed, wowed and wooed by Tofino/Pacific Rim National Park, spectacular Vancouver and the jaw-dropping Whistler Resort on the scenic Sea to Sky Highway. Along the way they discover the quaint fishing village Tofino Harbor, Clayoquot Sound and the Hot Springs Cove, learn to respect Mother Nature at the Wickaninnish Inn as the Pacific storms roll onto the beaches, and will culminate their visit at Whistler Resort in the Coast Mountains with a heart- racing Ziptrek EcoTour, and the thrill of alpine skiing.
For those at home, you don't have to wait for the Grim Reaper to be knocking for an excuse to get away and enjoy the amazing experiences British Columbia has to offer. Summer rafting trips begin at $79 a day. Just check out http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/. Since you'll build up an appetite, why not put the inevitable on hold with some top chefs, gourmands and winemakers at the Metropolitan Hotel http://www.metropolitan.com/. And if you're into storms (and a lot of people are) check out the "Storm Watchers Package" at http://www.wickinn.com/.

No need to wait for the grim reaper, although having flown back from London the day before 9/11, on American to LA, then leaving for Vancouver Island, I must say it is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. Nature, both in the people and in the environment, reminds you of what's worth saving on this finite Earth.
I ended up staying for six months. Get your holiday in this wildly wonderful place.
