Award-Winning Anchor Shon Gables Tapped to Host Black Enterprise Business Report
NEW YORK, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning anchor Shon Gables has been tapped to host the Black Enterprise Business Report, a half-hour, nationally syndicated television program that spotlights successful African American power players and business executives. The broadcast, along with Our World with Black Enterprise, hosted by Ed Gordon, is the cornerstone of BLACK ENTERPRISE's strategy to expand its brand into television.
"We are extremely proud to have someone with Shon's experience and credentials on board," says BLACK ENTERPRISE President & CEO Earl "Butch" Graves. "Her years of experience covering some of the last decade's biggest news and business stories will be critical to our efforts to reach out to the nearly 41 million African Americans in this country who are vastly underserved by current mass media."
"And as the definitive source of news and information for and about African American business markets and leaders for nearly four decades," Graves adds, "No company is better positioned to fill this void in television than BLACK ENTERPRISE."
Most recently, Gables was the morning anchor for WCBS TV in New York, where she covered some of New York's most profound events, including the 9-11 terrorist attacks. She launched her broadcast journalism career at KWCH in Wichita, Kansas, as a reporter and anchor for the station's public affairs program. Gables also spent time in radio broadcasting as news director and host on KVSP-Oklahoma City.
Gables was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for On-Camera Achievement. She has received several National Association of Black Journalists awards and a Lee Evans Outstanding Journalist award. In 2003, she was honored by the Harlem Chamber of Commerce with the New York City Excellence in Media Award. Gables has also received a National Black Achiever in Industry Award, an American Women in Radio and Television Gracie Allen Award, and she was named one of The Network Journal's "40 Under 40" black achievers.
