Five Real Women Show Off Summer Glow for New Dove Ad
Five Real Women Show Off Summer Glow for New Dove Ad
Campaign Debuts in National Summer Magazines
GREENWICH, Conn., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Women are constantly asking how they can be part of the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty and this week the global beauty brand is revealing five real women who received the opportunity. The women were selected from the Dove Look Like Summer, Feel Like Summer Essay Contest that kicked off in February and invited women to tell Dove what summer means to them. The idea for the initiative comes from the strong feelings and memories that are awakened by summer. When women start to look and feel like summer with glowing skin or bright-colored fashion pieces they are reminded of the fun it brings. The new Dove women are appearing in the next Dove Energy Glow advertisement for the line of moisturizers with self-tanners, debuting in the July issues of national women's magazines.
The Dove Energy Glow contest winners are:
-- Kim Gledhill, age 35 from New York, New York
-- Allyson Reister, age 26 from Richland, Washington
-- Amy McClanahan, age 26 from Aberdeen, North Carolina
-- Nikisha Alcindor, age 29 from Staten Island, New York
-- Lisa Nelson, age 42 from Portland, Oregon.
The essays these women shared best captured the spirit and emotions evoked by summer including favorite childhood memories, playing with their kids in the extra daylight and welcoming loved ones home from Iraq. They also submitted photographs of themselves in their favorite summer setting.
"I am thrilled to be selected as a winner of the Look Like Summer, Feel Like Summer contest!" said contest winner Kim Gledhill. "I am passionate about the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty and very excited to personally be part of it."
Dove partnered with fashion and beauty expert Paige Sachs, who works with Lucky and Glamour magazines. Sachs helped spread the news about the contest and shared style tips for how to get a jump start on summer.
"The Look Like Summer, Feel Like Summer" contest gave women the opportunity to start thinking about summer early, even while the snow was melting away," said Sachs. "I am proud to partner with Dove on this initiative to help women recognize their own unique glow inside and out."
In addition to appearing in the next Dove ad, the five real women enjoyed all expense paid trips to their choice of five exciting vacation destinations, including the Caribbean, Telluride and Napa Valley. They also received premier travel to and accommodations in New York City's trendy meatpacking district for a professional photo shoot. An expert stylist was on-hand to provide personal consultations in preparation for an afternoon of shopping.
"We were overwhelmed by the contest entries from real women with 6,500 photo essays submitted," said Kathy O'Brien, Dove marketing director. "The Energy Glow products bring a piece of summer to women's lives every day and this inspired them to share their favorite summer memories."
