TIBETcenter Benefit Performance: July 28, 2007 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park

CHICAGO, May 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- TIBETcenter Chicago presents a benefit performance on July 28, 2007 at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park. The performance features accomplished Tibetan musicians Nawang Khechog, Amchok Gompo Dhondup, Sonam Lhamo, Tenzin Dolma, Lobsang Yangphel, and Migmar Chungkyi, Evanston-based Mark Cleveland and the Chicago Didjeridu Chorus.

Proceeds from this first of a kind performance in Chicago will benefit the TIBETcenter's exhibition "TIBET: hall of fame & TIBET: hall of shame," the first part exploring the rich culture of Tibet, Buddhism, medicine, and the Dalai Lama's contributions to human endeavors, while the second part will deal with human rights abuses in Tibet, cultural genocide, environmental destruction, and other problems facing the area. MARK CLEVELAND, an Evanston singer-songwriter, who sounds a bit like John Hiatt, will be performing throughout Chicago this summer as one of the "Great Entertainers of Illinois, World Music Festival" and with the Silk Road Orchestra. He regularly performs with Bill Miller and Corky Siegel, and his musical compositions are now featured in the Field Museum's "Hall of the Descendants" gallery in the new Ancient America's exhibit. http://www.markclevelandmusic.com/

The CHICAGO DIDJERIDU CHORUS was founded by Tim Porcelli in 1991 as a Didjeridu Storytelling group. The Chicago Didjeridu Chorus has since grown to include handmade instruments from indigenous cultures around the world, and a variety of other percussion instruments.
