Test for Life Teams with A Prayer 4 Hip Hop in HIV-Testing Campaign and Concert Series

Concert Series Will Open at New York City's Copacabana on June 17

WASHINGTON, May 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Test for Life today announced its partnership with A Prayer 4 Hip-Hop, VIBE Magazine, Life Media, and GospelCity.com to open a concert series starting at the Copacabana Night Club in New York City on Sunday, June 17, at 4 p.m.

The concert series will provide free HIV testing, address the issues facing the hip hop generation today, and provide a positive message with performances from J.A.Z., Shabach, Deitrick Haddon, and a host of other hip hop/gospel/R&B artists. The tour will continue throughout the summer in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Tampa, Baltimore, and Detroit.

"HIV is spreading in our community at an unprecedented rate," said Gary Puckrein, PhD, president and chief executive officer of the National Minority Quality Forum. "We need to educate people about the importance of getting tested and prevent the spread of this disease. I applaud these young artists for being a part of this very important initiative."

Leonard E. Burnett, Jr., vice president and group publisher of VIBE Magazine, said: "At VIBE we are seeking ways to positively impact the communities we serve. This event will have a positive impact on our young people through the message being conveyed by the artists and through the initiative to educate our community about the importance of HIV testing."

Gospel rapper J.A.Z. is gearing up for the concert series and looking forward to bringing his contemporaries and fans aboard: "It is important for us to show the world that the hip hop culture is vast and that there are many artists that love hip hop and are dedicated to positively impacting the lives of their audience."
