'Viktor Krauss II' Released On Back Porch Records
Bass Player Starts Tour In Lyle Lovett's Band On June 13
NEW YORK, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Viktor Krauss' second solo album, the aptly-titled "Viktor Krauss II," has been released on Back Porch Records, and has been receiving high praise from the music press. "American Songwriter" magazine wrote, "Imagine a soundtrack to a rootsy, somewhat shadowy indie flick that hovers between rural wandering and suburban quests for the real, and you'd hire Krauss in an instant to give you the score."
Bassist Krauss will be joining Lyle Lovett's band on an upcoming summer tour that will hit 30 cities from June 13 through July 30. The tour begins in West Palm Beach, Florida, and winds up six weeks later at Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California.
Lovett is just one of the many artists that Krauss has played alongside over the past few years. His recording and touring credits include a wide range of performers, including Carly Simon, Bill Frisell, Elvis Costello and Graham Nash, among others.
"Viktor Krauss II," in addition to the richly-textured instrumentals for which Krauss is most well known, also features three guest vocal appearances by Lovett, Shawn Colvin, and Ben Taylor. Lovett offers up vocals on "Best Friend," and it's likely to be included in the set on this tour.
Krauss' band on the album features guitarist Dean Parks and drummer Matt Chamberlain. About the album, "No Depression" wrote: "Krauss and his small ensemble craft jazz-tinged, soundscape-ish arrangements weighted with substance. The radiant 'No Time Like The Past' finds Krauss and fellow guitarist Dean Parks creating the antithesis of the prototypical guitar duel, weaving their six strings instead into a thrilling tapestry."
