Seed Communications Wins Silver WorldMedal at New York Festivals
EMERYVILLE, Calif., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- This medal is the fifth international festival and industry award received so far for "Just Children," which was produced for the San Francisco Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP) by Seed Communications, a creative agency working in strategy, video, print, and web.
"Seed made a beautiful film about the Homeless Prenatal Program," said Martha Ryan, Founder and Executive Director of HPP. "Our work with homeless families is complex and multi-dimensional and no other film has so successfully captured the heart of what we do."
"Seed clearly has a unique ability to bring together a phenomenal team who vividly captured the spirit and passion of HPP, said Joseph Ansanelli, vice-president of HPP's Board of Directors and CEO of Vontu, Inc. "Their storytelling has been a cornerstone of our ability to add more than one million dollars to our capital campaign. This impact is helping to bring hundreds of healthy children into the world and get hundreds of homeless families into permanent housing."
John Torcassi, who is a partner at Seed and directed and shot the video, pulled in interesting and diverse talent such as the extraordinary hip hop singer/songwriter Kaylah Marin who created the score and did the voiceover, and award-winning photographer Mark Richards, who took still photos of some of the children who lives are touched by the program.
"We believe that storytelling is the most important thing," said Nancy Raff, Seed's co-founder and CEO. "Whether it is communicating corporate strategy or encouraging donations to a great cause, you have to break through the clutter and touch people's emotions as well as their brains. HPP is all about making unique connections with women whose lives are in ruins, one at a time. We had to convey all that complexity succinctly so that potential donors could easily understand how their donation to HPP will help solve one of society's most difficult problems."
The video has won four other international film festival awards besides the New York Festivals: silvers at the Chicago International Film Festival and International Davey Awards, a medal at the Columbus International Film Festival and a CINE Golden Eagle for excellence in filmmaking.
Seed has won three other awards at the New York Festivals, as well as dozens of awards for videos at competitions worldwide for clients such as IBM, Intel and HP. A poster series created for HP was recently showcased in the Graphis Poster Annual.
