Universal Studios Hollywood, the Entertainment Capital of L.A. Presents the 'New' CityWalk
CityWalk, the Prototype of Contemporary Entertainment-Retail Destinations, Adds Compelling New Choices and Rises to New Heights With Dazzling New Cinema, New Shops, New Restaurants, New Attractions
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- CityWalk at Universal Studios Hollywood, the dynamic entertainment, dining and retail promenade that has served as a prototype for the contemporary entertainment-retail destination, will be re-launched this year after a thorough re-invention. The iconic open-air leisure and nightlife complex will soon offer L.A.'s best movie-going experience and will also add a lively mix of new dining choices, a collection of contemporary retail favorites, an exciting range of entertainment choices including Southern California's only indoor skydiving experience, mechanical bull-riding, virtual NASCAR racing, salsa dancing, and a variety of live music venues that help define Universal Studios Hollywood as The Entertainment Capital of L.A.
In May 2007, Universal CityWalk will revitalize its 18-screen movie theatre with a world-class top-to-bottom remodel designed to elevate the movie-going experience to new levels of comfort and technical sophistication. The centerpiece includes the installation of premium, ultra-spacious stadium- style seating and first-rate amenities that include state-of-the-art ergonomically designed "rocker" seats and cushioned cup-holder armrests. The addition of new curved, wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling movie screens and a sophisticated digital surround-sound system will contribute to an exceptional viewing experience.
At the heart of the elaborate 18-cinema complex sits Southern California's largest IMAX 3-D theatre. CityWalk's IMAX boasts a six-story, 59' x 81' screen, a twin 15,000 watt bulb projector and a six channel high fidelity sound system in a spacious theater that accommodates 420 guests in optimal stadium-seats.
Spring 2007 will also see the debut of SkyVenture Hollywood, a technologically advanced indoor skydiving wind tunnel attraction that closely approximates a true skydiving experience. The new SkyVenture will catapult guests to pulse-pounding heights of over 40-feet and keep them suspended with wind thrusts of up to 125-miles per hour.
A variety of other extreme entertainment adventures are available at the new CityWalk, including virtual race car driving at the NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway, mechanical bull-riding at Saddle Ranch Chop House and bowling under the neon lights of Jillian's Hi Life Lanes.
Featuring restaurants that cater to every palate, Universal CityWalk will soon add Andrew's Panda Inn to its menu of dining choices that includes Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Wolfgang Puck Cafe, Buca di Beppo, Daily Grill, Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, Saddle Ranch Chop House, Karl Strauss Beer Garden & Restaurant and Tony Roma's along with the best in quick food eateries.
Designed to keep shoppers dressed and accessorized from head to toe, Universal CityWalk offers a bevy of boutiques that now include such favorites as Abercrombie & Fitch, Guess? Accessories, Hollywood Harley Davidson, Fossil, Billabong, Skechers and Hot Topic as well as such popular sports-minded shops as Raiders Image and Quicksilver Boardrider's Club and such one-of-a-kind stores as Dodgers Clubhouse and Team LA.
With a broad spectrum of nightclubs and activities, Universal CityWalk offers party-goers an invitation to salsa dance at the Havana-reminiscent Rumba Room, enjoy live jazz performances at B.B. King's Blues Club & Restaurant or add their voices to the music at Howl at the Moon's dueling, sing-a-long piano bar. A value-packed Nighttime Party Pass, available for purchase, enables party-goers to take it all in frequently and conveniently.
Outside the clubs and the theaters, the CityWalk promenade vibrates with the energy of non-stop entertainment. Street performers -- an eclectic collection of L.A.'s best emerging talent -- augment a regular schedule of free outdoor movies on a giant outdoor, stadium-size screen, celebrity guest appearances and holiday celebrations.
Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A., is a full day, movie-based theme park featuring such unique and groundbreaking attractions as "Revenge of the Mummy-The Ride," "Shrek 4-D," "Terminator 2: 3D," "Jurassic Park-The Ride" and the world-renowned behind-the-scenes Studio Tour and includes the adjacent CityWalk, a unique dining and shopping promenade featuring 65 entertainment-themed restaurants, clubs, shops, IMAX and movie theaters.
