A Star Is Born in San Francisco Bay

A Star Is Born in San Francisco Bay

EMERYVILLE, Calif., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Elizabeth Machabeli (Lizzy), a 12 year old San Francisco native, won the starring role in an upcoming TV sitcom. In a talent contest sponsored by My Artist's Place on Saturday, January 27, 2007, Lizzy out performed sixty nine of her peers to secure the role. The contest was judged by a panel of seasoned entertainment professionals on four different criteria: appearance, voice quality, confidence, and acting ability. Though the competition was tight, the difficulty of Lizzy's monologue along with her stage presence quickly set her apart. Lizzy has trained for eight months for this contest and has earned the right to be called "San Francisco's Most Promising Young Talent".

Lizzy turned twelve on January 20, 2007 and in the same week secured a starring role in a new sitcom, received guaranteed representation from a talent agency, won $1000 and a trip to Hollywood where she will be hosted by Erik DeSando, president of My Artist's Place and owner of a Los Angeles talent agency, to a live TV show taping and a walk on to the set of "Seventh Heaven". Additionally, Lizzy and her family will get to have lunch at a major studio and have the opportunity to choose from some of the finest celebrity swag at Red Light PR. When asked if she had a good birthday, Lizzy claimed, "Yeah, I would say it has been pretty good."

Lane Kennedy, a contest judge who has been modeling and producing for over 18 years, declared, "Lizzy's performance was flawless. Talking in a British accent is difficult and risky, especially for a 12 year old, and Lizzy nailed it. I've never been more impressed by a child's talent." According to DeSando, who has fifteen years experience in casting young actors, stated, "I have had the privilege of seeing Lizzy perform four times and I am amazed with her consistency and work ethic. We feel strongly that Lizzy can compete in the L.A. market and we are excited about her opportunity to star in this sitcom."

Lizzy's mother, Tina Machabeli, swears, "Elizabeth is just a normal girl." However, Lizzy spends four hours in acting classes, six hours in dance lessons, and two hours in piano lessons per week on top of managing all her school work. According to Christina Ferra-Gilmore, a seasoned casting director and head acting coach at Rising Stars Acting School, "Lizzy is one of the most dedicated students I have ever taught. I've seen so many actors who neglect to simply work hard. Lizzy is the best, because she really wants it and she is willing to work hard to get it. I know we will see great things from this girl and she deserves every bit of it."
