ROO Partners With VNU to Launch Branded TV Portals
Synchronized Pre-Roll Video and Banner Ads Available to Advertisers
NEW YORK, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Internet video specialist, ROO (BULLETIN BOARD: RGRP) , is partnering with UK business-to-business and consumer publisher VNU Business Publications, to launch Internet TV services across four of VNU's market-leading media brands, including VNUnet, Computeractive, Accountancy Age and Computing.
These new web TV services are being powered by the ROO Video Exchange platform, which provides VNU with the capability to aggregate content, distributing it through multiple channels and then dynamically inserting targeted advertising within the video as it streams to the user.
The partnership will enable VNU to deliver up-to-the-minute original video content created in-house by its editorial teams, as well as relevant third party content such as news, business, science and technology categories from media suppliers like Reuters. VNU's web TV services will be accessible to users through the homepages of the websites relating to each of the brands.
ROO video players have been individually branded to reflect the look and feel of the websites. A bespoke mini player will be embedded on each website homepage, with full-screen capabilities also available. The content channels available through the player are user-customizable, so that new categories can be added once the service has established itself.
Advertisers will be able to purchase both pre-roll advertising and synchronized Interactive Media Unit (IMU) banners across all of VNU's TV channels which is designed to place advertisers at the heart of the new video content being made available.
Robert Petty, CEO of ROO, comments: "VNU is one of the largest online technology publication networks in Europe, and we are delighted to be working with them to provide a total video management strategy. ROO's ability to provide VNU's four-million online users with original content from an array of top-tier news and entertainment channels will make the online experience far more compelling and dynamic for site visitors."
John Barnes, Deputy MD at VNU, adds: "From early in the planning for the launch of VNU's Internet TV service we were looking for a partnership that could increase page views, keep visitors on the site longer and generate strong new revenue streams through creative, targeted advertising opportunities. ROO's ad-supported video solution, premium content and total video management package promises just that."
