Night At The Museum: The IMAX Experience Grosses $15 Million

Film Shows Strong Legs at IMAX(R) Theatres Nearly Eight Weeks into Run

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that the holiday blockbuster Night at the Museum: The IMAX Experience has grossed more than $15 million worldwide since premiering on December 22, 2006. The IMAX release continues to show strong legs by registering a box office increase of 1% for its seventh weekend, from 73 domestic IMAX screens. The motion picture is also playing at 20 international IMAX locations with more scheduled to open this week. Night at the Museum has been digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R) with proprietary IMAX DMR(R) (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The film's total worldwide gross in both conventional and IMAX theatres is now nearly $466 million.

"We are very pleased with the exceptional results that Night at the Museum has posted in both conventional and IMAX(R) theatres," said Bruce Snyder, President, Domestic Distribution, Twentieth Century Fox "The enhanced images and sound of The IMAX Experience has added an extra level of excitement to the film and it is translating into strong legs and healthy incremental box office returns."

"We are thrilled that moviegoers are continuing to experience Night at the Museum in IMAX theatres after the holidays and into 2007," added Greg Foster, Chairman and President, IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "The film is playing well in both multiplex and museum-based IMAX theatres and we are confident that its broad appeal will continue to generate strong word of mouth and further its success in the weeks ahead."

Good-hearted dreamer Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), despite being perpetually down on his luck, thinks he's destined for something big. But even he could never have imagined how "big," when he accepts what appears to be a menial job as a graveyard-shift night watchman at a museum of natural history. But during Larry's watch, something extraordinary happens: the museum's exhibits magically come to life. A fearsome T-Rex insists on a game of fetch (with one of his own skeleton bones); Mayans, Roman Gladiators, and cowboys emerge from their diorama to wage epic battles; and a wax figure of Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams) gives Larry important advice while harboring a crush for an Indian princess. As things spiral wildly out of control, Larry must find a way to control the magic to stop a nefarious plot and save the museum.
