FHI Media to Participate in Global Warming Art Exhibit

FHI Media to Participate in Global Warming Art Exhibit

CHICAGO, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- For Her Information Media, the company behind FHI magazine and the PBS TV series, has announced its participation as a sponsor in "Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet," a public art exhibition that will premier along Lake Michigan in Chicago, beginning June 2007.

FHI founder Beth Aldrich said, "We are honored to join Cool Globes in its important mission of raising awareness and promoting solutions to global warming through art. At FHI we strive to make our company carbon neutral, from printing our magazine on New Leaf recycled paper to hosting the entire magazine for free on our website, http://www.forherinformation.com/ . We devoted our most recent issue, 'Living Green,' to environmental topics. Collaborating with Cool Globes is a natural progression for us in our efforts to help nurture the Earth."

Cool Globes' summer-long exhibit will feature five-foot diameter fiberglass globes representing themes that range from technical solutions (wind, solar and hydropower) to conceptual (social activism, self-reflection) to quirky (one globe will be covered in professional athletes' old "recycled" shoes, with the message "Use your feet."). Another globe, organized by a group of 11-year-olds, will be collaged with drawings and the words "Stop Global Warming" sent in from children from China, Australia, Israel, Norway, Italy and Ghana, to name a few.

Spearheaded by Wendy Abrams, Executive Director and Founder, Cool Globes is powered by some of the most influential names in the environmental movement. Carl Pope (Executive Director of the Sierra Club), Frances Beineke (President of NRDC) Fred Krupp (President of Environmental Defense), climatologist Michael Oppenheimer, and environmental activist and Executive Producer of An Inconvenient Truth, Laurie David all serve on the Cool Globes Advisory Board. Funds raised will go to support public school environmental education programs. Check http://www.coolglobes.com/ for more information.
