Projection Perfection: It's Not Just Food and Fun at Studio Movie Grill's New High-Tech Arlington Location

Projection Perfection: It's Not Just Food and Fun at Studio Movie Grill's New High-Tech Arlington Location

ARLINGTON, Texas, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- "State-of-the-art projection and sound systems" isn't just a catch phrase at Studio Movie Grill where they are the heart of every presentation at its new location. SMG utilizes an exceptional custom-assembled package producing a level of quality unsurpassed by any theater in the Southwest allowing for a truly phenomenal movie experience.

Imported from Australia, Pennywise's CA21 systems are custom designed and programmed exclusively for Studio Movie Grill. Constantly monitoring movie presentations, they ensure precisely executed shows. From dimming the lights and closing auditorium doors to monitoring the air conditioning and adjusting for volume differences between previews and features, concise detail prevents SMG from suffering typical multiplex distractions.

Studio Movie Grill selected Christie's SLC-FT lamphouses for their dynamic light output and near flawless reliability. Each unit is individually laser aligned by hand to produce an unsurpassed level of brightness, color saturation, and contrast in projected images.

Custom modified Kinoton projectors, imported from Germany, produce a noticeably higher picture resolution than can be obtained by typical motion picture projectors.

German imported Schneider Optics coupled with true optical glass port windows result in higher contrast, light transmission, and color saturation.

Harkness screens feature the best light, contrast and color reflection possible.

Exclusive to SMG, custom modified Autowind 3R platters are the core of a film transport system that allows movies to be played in any auditorium, or combination of auditoriums, without risk of damage from physically moving the film.

Studio Movie Grill tops off their picture perfection by running all films "wet gate" with FilmGuard(C) At typical theaters, customers notice increasing levels of dirt, scratches and jumps. However, SMG's presentations look brighter and sharper, with more vivid colors, every time the film is presented.

But a movie isn't just about the picture. Sound is 50% of the experience! Dolby's top of the line sound processor, featuring discrete 6 channel Dolby Stereo Digital with EX surround, is the heart of every SMG theater -- the same model found in studio mixing rooms.

QSC Pro digital cinema audio amplifiers and speaker systems are meticulously tuned with the THX D2 system to each individual auditorium's acoustics, thereby faithfully reproducing what director and sound mixers heard when the movie was recorded. SMG's Studio Deluxe auditorium has over 150 speakers and 30,000 watts of power, making it the largest sound system in Texas. The difference is clean, pure, powerful sound without straining or distortion.

Brad Miller of Film-Tech, best known locally for his work at GCC Northpark, personally certifies every projectionist, custom designs every system, and handles all projection and sound equipment installation and calibration to ensure stringent standards.

Studio Movie Grill, the pioneer and leader in the movie grill concept, combining first-run movies with restaurant food service, has three locations in Texas with SMG Arlington 225 Merchants Row, becoming its fourth.
