The Inspiration Networks In Association With Bristol Bay Productions to Host Exclusive Charlotte-Area Pre-Release Screening of 'Amazing Grace'

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Inspiration Networks, in association with Bristol Bay Productions, will host an exclusive, invitation-only, Charlotte area pre-release screening of "Amazing Grace" on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. for local ministry leaders. "Amazing Grace" is based on the true story of William Wilberforce, a British statesman and reformer from the early 19th century. The film chronicles his 20-year fight to abolish the British slave trade, which he won in 1807. Wilberforce was also instrumental in passing legislation to abolish slavery in the British colonies, a victory he won just three days before his death in 1833. Much of this work set the stage for the subsequent abolition of slavery in the United States in 1865 following the end of the Civil War.

"Amazing Grace" stars Ion Gruffudd as William Wilberforce ("Fantastic Four"), Albert Finney as John Newton, and Youssou N'Dour as Olaudah Equiano. It was directed by Michael Apted ("Coal Miner's Daughter", "The World Is Not Enough") and produced by Terrence Malick ("The Thin Red Line", "The New World"), Ed Pressman, and Patricia Heaton ("Everybody Loves Raymond"). The film will be released nationwide on February 23, 2007, which marks the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in England.
