SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The industry leader in multi-platform game programs, GSN, is bringing participation television to the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). GSN will be showcasing its late-night live play-along series PLAYMANIA at CES. CES attendees will be able to win prizes when PLAYMANIA host Shandi Finnessey takes center stage on Sony's Backstage Theater, Wednesday, January 10 from 11:00 to 11:30 AM, PT. Sony's Backstage Theater is located in the Las Vegas Convention Center Booth #14200.
PLAYMANIA is a live interactive game show where viewers become contestants, playing a multitude of interactive word games, number games and puzzles. Hosted by LINGO co-host and former Miss USA Shandi Finnessey, PLAYMANIA gives viewers the opportunity to compete for cash and prizes by text messaging, going online to gsn.com and coming soon by dialing in. However, at CES, attendees can win by visiting the Theater between 11:00 and 11:30 AM on Jan. 10.
PLAYMANIA, the first participation TV program to air in the United States, premiered April 6 and has grown from its twice a week debut schedule to a six night per week staple with its Tuesday-Sunday (12:00-2:00 AM ET/10:00-Midnight PT) air schedule.
"As the network for games and the industry's interactive leader, we're proud to have been the first channel in America to offer live participation TV," said Rich Cronin, President and CEO, GSN. "This format has proven to be very successful in Europe, and we see exponential expansion in United States television."
"Since PLAYMANIA's April premiere, we have experienced 270% growth in participation. Much of this success is due to the fact that the GSN audience loves to play games," said John P. Roberts, Senior Vice President of Digital Media and Interactive Entertainment. "This announcement is just the beginning ... we have many upcoming innovations that will thrill our growing community of self-proclaimed 'PlayManiacs' later this month."
PLAYMANIA is produced by Game Show Enterprises for GSN in conjunction with Optimistic Entertainment.
