Downtown Media Acquires Inked Magazine
TOKION magazine Gets Partner Publication
NEW YORK, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Downtown Media, which last year acquired TOKION magazine, announced today that it has reached an agreement for the purchase of Inked magazine from Inked Productions LLC.
Inked is an upscale quarterly lifestyle and fashion magazine that focuses on the high end of the body art world, along with the latest in art, music, entertainment, style and culture. The integration of tattoos and fashion has reached into all areas of style today and Inked is the only magazine that targets this explosive market of personal expression.
The acquisition of Inked expands Downtown Media's strategy of building a group of complimentary niche publications which target young urban trendsetters and which offer tremendous opportunities for brand extensions in new media and related businesses.
"We are very excited about Inked," said Larry Rosenblum, President of Downtown Media, "I believe this magazine is a unique product which appeals to hipsters and celebrities alike and which will continue to develop incredible influence and presence in the marketplace."
The current management team of Inked will remain with the publication. The sales and production areas of both Inked and TOKION publications and websites will be consolidated so that advertisers will be able to purchase group buys which will more efficiently reach the 'downtown' market.
"We strongly believe that Downtown Media will help us to continue to evolve and grow," says Albert Azout, publisher of Inked. "The market has certainly proven the demand for the property."
Downtown Media last year acquired TOKION magazine, which, founded in 1996, was the first to feature global art and pop culture with an emphasis on design and emerging new artists in all genres. Today TOKION is widely recognized as the first to discover and cover new talent worldwide. TOKION also produces an annual conference, "Creativity Now," which draws thousands of attendees from around the world to a weekend forum focused on trends and themes in art, media, design and entertainment. Additional Creativity Now conferences are being planned worldwide for late 2007 and 2008, details of which are expected to be announced soon.
