Boyles Distinctive Furniture Joins with 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' to Furnish Home for Tampa Family

Fourth Time Boyles Donates to Nationally Televised Home Makeover Show

CONOVER, N.C., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- North Carolina-based furniture retailer Boyles Distinctive Furniture has joined with ABC's hit television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to provide furniture to a Tampa, FL, family who received a home makeover from the show January 7th - 14th, 2007. In December, Boyles along with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" furnished a home in Raleigh, NC. In September and October of last year, Boyles also joined with "The Dr. Phil Show" and DIY Network's "DIY to the Rescue" to design and furnish interiors for three families whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

"We were more than happy to help when 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' approached us with this special project," said Chad Hendricks, Executive Vice President, Boyles Distinctive Furniture. "It is our privilege to help such a deserving family in their time of greatest need. Boyles is thrilled to have another opportunity to provide furnishings and to help the 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' team turn a house into a true home. We hope that the furniture and the experience of the home makeover will bring this family much happiness."

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will feature a family of five whose home was damaged after a plane crashed into their house and destroyed everything that the family owned on June 12th of 2006.

The parents, Tom and Cynthia Tate, are well-known throughout their small community in Tampa. Tom, co-owner of a pizzeria, is responsible for providing many of the young people in town with their first jobs. Cynthia has done extensive work with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the PTA. The parents are involved with virtually every volunteer or charity event in the community. It has been said that many of the kids in this community have grown up in this family's house and that June 12th was a rare day in that the house wasn't filled with neighborhood children. Cynthia was the only one home at the time of the accident and was able to escape without injury. The plane's pilot was killed upon impact along with the family pets: two dogs and two cats. The co- pilot was badly burned but survived.

To make matters worse, as a result of this accident it was brought to the Tate's attention that due to a clerical error they did not have homeowners insurance at the time of the accident.

On Sunday, January 7, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" host Ty Pennington and the rest of the extreme crew surprised the family in Tampa. The home was rebuilt and Boyles installed the furniture on January 13. The show's air date has yet to be determined. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" airs on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CST on ABC.
