Released on the Virgin Classics label in cooperation with Ideale Audience International, ARTE, KTO and L'Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, and with the support of Soli Deo Gloria, Fondation France Telecom, CNC and Crescendo, the DVD is the first installment of a trilogy of Bach works to be recorded in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris for presentation on DVD. Subsequent productions will include the St. John Passion, BWV 245, and the St. Matthew Passion, BWV 244.

According to Bertrand Delanoe, Mayor of Paris, "...the recording of these sacred masterpieces for DVD is not only historic for their creation but represents the collaborative efforts of private and corporate sponsorship of great cultural works between the United States and France." Said Mgr. André Vingt-Trois, Archbishop of Paris, "The reason Cardinal (Jean-Marie) Lustiger desired a performance of the Mass in B Minor in the Cathedral wasn't just to have yet another concert. It really was to provide a glimpse of the deep connection that exists between the musical performance, the architecture and the spirituality of a place."

DVD bonus features include interviews with John Nelson and Mgr. Andre Vingt-Trois. Mgr. Jehan Revert introduces the Mass in B Minor. Also included is a documentary on the Music and Liturgy at Notre-Dame de Paris.

The DVD will be released on January 16, 2007, and will available for purchase on the Soli Deo Gloria website, http://www.sdgmusic.org/, and in record stores worldwide.

Soli Deo Gloria is a nonprofit organization dedicated to classical sacred music. Previous sponsored recordings include Gorecki's Miserere (1994 Electra/Nonesuch) and Berlioz' Te Deum (2001 EMI/Virgin Classics).
