ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Cinema follows the legal and illegal trail of West African diamonds, presenting the World Premiere of the documentary "Blood on the Stone," airing Friday, December 15th at midnight (additional airdates: Dec. 18 @ 1:45 a.m., Dec. 20 @ 10:00 a.m., Dec. 22 @ 9:00 a.m., 7:15 p.m., Dec. 28 @ 3:30 a.m., Dec. 29 @ 4:50 a.m.). "Blood on the Stone," directed by award-winning Sierra Leonean journalist and filmmaker Sorious Samura, is a true-life companion piece to the Warner Bros. theatrical film "Blood Diamond," which is currently in theaters.

"Blood on the Stone" is a look at the practice of mining, transporting and selling diamonds in the West African country of Sierra Leone. The documentary follows the process of certifying diamonds, seeking confirmation that they are not from areas of civil conflict.

Samura was a consultant on the theatrical film "Blood Diamond," directed by Edward Zwick and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou. The film is set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone. A South African mercenary (DiCaprio) and a fisherman (Hounsou) join in a quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can forever change their lives.
