Popular Host Samantha Brown Creates Her Own Adventure Onboard the World's Largest Cruise Ship
MIAMI, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- For the first time ever, Royal Caribbean International's Freedom of the Seas seven-night cruise experience will be showcased nationwide on the premier of "Great Cruises: Freedom of the Seas with Samantha Brown" on the Travel Channel. The show will air on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006 at 8 p.m. EST, with an encore on Sunday, Dec. 24 at 10 p.m.
Samantha Brown escorts viewers through an action-packed tour of Freedom's Western Caribbean ports of call and the ship's onboard diversions such as the FlowRider(R) surf simulator; the H20 Zone family water park; the boxing ring and acclaimed production shows Once Upon A Time and Freedom Ice.com. Viewers also get a glimpse of "off limit" areas such as the bridge and engine room.
"It is great to have Samantha Brown onboard the world's largest and most innovative ship to experience what contemporary cruising is all about," said Alice Norsworthy, senior vice president, Marketing, for Royal Caribbean International. "All of the varied offerings onboard our ships, coupled with the benefits of visiting multiple destinations in one trip, enable our guests to choose from a wide range of options to create the unique adventure they desire. For those seeking an active vacation, there's ice skating, rock climbing, boxing or surfing; for a more relaxing and rejuvenating experience, there's the state-of-the-art spa, fine dining and world class entertainment and for our little guests, an award-winning children's program and the H20 Zone water park."
Those tuning in to "Great Cruises: Freedom of the Seas with Samantha Brown" receive a first-hand look at Freedom's signature cruise industry innovations including the Presidential Family Suite that sleeps up to 14 people; two cantilevered whirlpools that extend 112 feet from the sides of the ship and the first full-size boxing ring at sea. Shoreside, Samantha Brown gives viewers tours of Freedom's exotic ports of call in Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; Montego Bay, Jamaica and Royal Caribbean's private destination, Labadee, Haiti.
At 160,000 GRT and holding 3,634 guests double-occupancy, Freedom of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world, a title soon to be shared with her sister ship Liberty of the Seas when she debuts in May 2007. The two ships will alternate between seven-night Western and Eastern Caribbean itineraries from Miami, with Liberty departing on Saturdays and Freedom on Sundays. The Western Caribbean itinerary calls in Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Montego Bay, Jamaica; while the Eastern Caribbean itinerary calls in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Philipsburg, St. Maarten, allowing for a third day at sea to take advantage of all the ship has to offer. Both itineraries will bring guests to Royal Caribbean's private destination, Labadee, Haiti, before returning to Miami.
Royal Caribbean International is a global cruise brand with 20 ships currently in service and three under construction.
