Douglas MacArthur Choir Has Something New To Sing About

Nelms Family Donates Funds for New Uniforms

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- With their latest philanthropic move, Robert and Deborah Nelms, owners of the community-based Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, have given the children of Douglas MacArthur Intermediate School choir something to sing about. The Nelms donated the funds necessary to outfit the children with new uniforms.

"The Nelms Family is committed to the future of our community," said Robert Nelms. "What better organization to support than the well-recognized Special Choir at Douglas MacArthur?"

When the staff from Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery arrived at the school to present the check, they saw firsthand the results of their funds as the children greeted them in their new uniforms. Chad Qualkenbush, Funeral Home Manager, stated, "It was a very rewarding experience."

Mr. John Phillips, the choir director at Douglas MacArthur, thanked the Nelms and Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery staff for their generosity. "Without assistance from the community, we wouldn't have been able to purchase the new uniforms," he said.

The Nelms Family has made a habit of giving back to the community. From holiday toy drives to blood drives to estate planning seminars, the Nelms along with the staff of Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery are consistently looking for ways to partner with the community.

Most recently, the Nelms donated services for the four children found slain in their Indianapolis home.
